Jayne was born in Birmingham and moved to East Devon in 1999. She is a self taught artist working predominantly in the rich mediums of acrylics and oils. She has always been a painter but decided to paint full time after the pandemic.
Jayne’s work is lyrical, gestural and spontaneous often working directly to the canvas, drawing on memory, emotion and sensation, with varying degrees of abstraction.
“In my work I delve into abstract, semi abstract and impressionist styles, layering textures and colours to create depth and intrigue. The interplay of mark making techniques in my work serves to infuse each piece with movement, emotion and light inviting engagement with the art on multiple levels. Drawing inspiration from my daily walks along coastal paths, beaches, heaths, woodlands and rivers. I find beauty in both sweeping landscapes and minute details, all of which evoke a profound sense of wonder. My art aims to articulate the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, reflecting on connections, interactions, patterns and circles of life. Thorough my work, I aspire to share not only my admiration for the natural world but also an intimate glimpse into my own experiences, inviting others to connect with the beauty and complexity of our environment”
